Currents is a three panelled lithograph with chine-collé and was created using lithographic crayons I developed during a research project at the Tamarind Institute, Albuquerque, New Mexico. The project explored historic crayon recipes, testing small batches for texture, grease content, drawability and resistance to etches, while investigating different raw materials and locally sourced alternatives available in Australia. The resulting prints are the culmination of my exploration of marks and lines I could achieve with these experimental crayons.

Across the three works, the wavering line becomes both image and meditative practice, gesturing toward larger systems of rhythm, topography, bodies of water and elemental pattern. One panel introduces embossing to extend the surface beyond printed marks. The images are dream landscapes, formed through the subjective recontextualising of environments and the process of making, cast in the currents of time.
